The Roads Traveled
The Roads Traveled
The Roads Traveled emerged from my discovery of a wonderfully unique piece of old, weathered wood, marked by termite holes and other natural imperfections. Intrigued by it’s character, I tried a technique where I used a router to carve out sections of the wood to embed the glass, rather than adhering it to the surface. This technique allowed the vibrant, smooth Smalti glass to become part of the rustic, textured gray wood. The juxtaposition of these materials symbolizes the contrast between the ruggedness of life’s challenges and the brilliance of its moments of beauty. Through this piece, I aim to depict life’s ever-changing landscape, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own unique journey.
